About the Work

I was a quilt artist for years – then, as now, a fascination with color, texture, shape, and pattern fueled my work. I have always enjoyed combining items of beauty in fresh ways and continue these explorations today.

My work with plants started in 1992 and grew directly out of my passion for my garden. For years I had been pressing my garden favorites, since I could not bear to part with them at the end of each season. With no clear idea I sat down with these treasures one day to "play" and became totally engrossed in the process. Hours later I emerged with a book full of collages and a desire to continue this creative exploration with plants, which has not waned to this day.

My newest area of artistic interest is with felt. Felting has taken me by surprise! It started as a weekend "play-date" with a friend and has engaged my imagination ever since. Felting, an ancient art form found around the world, is the process of transforming loose woolen fibers into beautiful handmade fabric which is permanent and strong. I have found this medium infinitely fascinating, and look forward to exploring its possibilities for years to come.

In these pages you will see collages, sculptural work, jewelry, scarves, bookmarks, cards and more – certainly a great diversity of work, utilizing a combination of media. My commitment throughout is to create unique items of beauty. I will continue to hone my skills and develop new techniques as my artistic imagination carries me forward.

long enough to enable him to put the other somewhat higher."
— Thomas Henry Huxley
